Description
Administer and oversee employer-sponsored pension programs, ensuring compliant plan operations, accurate benefit payments, and clear participant support. Manages daily administration for defined benefit and defined contribution plans, coordinates vendors and actuaries, and advises leadership on plan policies and costs.
- • Administer defined benefit and defined contribution plans in accordance with plan documents.
- • Determine participant eligibility, process enrollments, and maintain vesting and contribution records.
- • Calculate and process retirement benefits, terminations, QDROs, loans, and distributions.
- • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations and company policies.
- • Prepare and file Forms 5500, 8955-SSA, and 1099-R, and issue required participant notices.
- • Conduct annual nondiscrimination, coverage, and top-heavy testing and correct failures.
- • Support actuarial valuations and funding for defined benefit plans; coordinate with actuaries.
- • Reconcile payroll and plan trust data; monitor timely remittances and data integrity.
- • Maintain participant records, plan documents, and administration systems.
- • Prepare plan census files, reports, and dashboards for audits and governance committees.
- • Advise HR, finance, and employees on pension provisions, policies, and procedures.
- • Research regulatory changes and recommend plan amendments or process improvements.
- • Develop and distribute SPDs, SMMs, fee disclosures, and other communications.
- • Manage relationships with recordkeepers, trustees, brokers, and other vendors.
- • Assist with plan implementations, mergers, spin-offs, and terminations, including PBGC filings when applicable.
- • Investigate and resolve participant inquiries, benefits disputes, and corrections.
- • Provide training and education on retirement benefits and tools.
- • Support collective bargaining negotiations with pension data and analysis.
- • Perform cost and scenario analyses to support plan design and budgeting decisions.
- • Coordinate responses to audits and regulatory inquiries; maintain compliance calendars.
