Description
Plan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance of environmental infrastructure and controls, such as stormwater and wastewater systems, landfills, remediation projects, erosion and sediment control, and habitat restoration, ensuring regulatory compliance, sustainability, and safe operations.
- • Compute hydrologic and hydraulic parameters, loads, grades, and material capacities to develop environmental construction designs.
- • Inspect construction sites to verify conformance with plans, erosion and sediment control, environmental permits, and safety standards.
- • Direct or participate in surveying and layout to establish control points, grades, and limits for environmental facilities.
- • Estimate quantities, equipment, labor, and disposal costs to evaluate feasibility and budgets for environmental projects.
- • Prepare and present permit applications, SWPPPs, environmental impact statements, bid packages, and right-of-way or easement documentation.
- • Test soils, aggregates, liners, and concrete for contamination, permeability, compaction, and strength.
- • Conduct site assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, and environmental condition reviews to identify risks and project impacts.
- • Design environmentally sound and energy-efficient civil works, including stormwater best management practices (BMPs) and low-impact development features.
- • Design systems for collection, treatment, and disposal of hazardous and nonhazardous wastes, leachate, and contaminated groundwater.
- • Develop and implement remediation plans and containment systems for spills and contaminated sites.
- • Direct construction and engineering activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits, NPDES, OSHA, and other regulations.
- • Identify environmental risks and develop mitigation, monitoring, and contingency plans.
- • Provide technical guidance to owners, contractors, and agencies on design changes, constructability, and environmental compliance.
- • Manage construction sequencing, quality control, and maintenance turnover for environmental infrastructure.
- • Plan and design stormwater, wastewater, and water quality systems using CAD and modeling tools.
- • Analyze survey data, geotechnical reports, as-builts, maps, and aerial or LiDAR data to support design and construction.
