Description
Plan, design, and oversee the construction and maintenance of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, rail and transit facilities, airports, ports, dams, pipelines, and water and wastewater systems, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- • Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stresses to define design specifications.
- • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and verify conformance with plans, codes, and safety standards.
- • Direct or participate in surveying to establish reference points, grades, and elevations for construction.
- • Estimate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, and labor to assess project feasibility.
- • Prepare and present plans, specifications, and public reports, including bids, environmental impact statements, and right-of-way documents.
- • Test soils and construction materials to evaluate foundation capacity and concrete, asphalt, or steel strength.
- • Analyze traffic patterns and environmental conditions to identify issues and assess project impacts.
- • Design energy-efficient, resilient, and environmentally sound civil structures and systems.
- • Plan and design stormwater, wastewater, and drainage systems for sites and communities.
- • Develop construction-phase erosion, sediment control, and stormwater pollution prevention measures.
- • Direct engineering activities and site operations to ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and other regulations.
- • Identify project risks and develop mitigation and risk management strategies.
- • Provide technical guidance to managers, contractors, and stakeholders on design, construction, and repairs.
- • Manage and coordinate construction, operations, and maintenance activities at the project site.
- • Plan and design transportation and hydraulic systems using computer-aided design and modeling tools.
- • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial imagery, and geotechnical data.
