Description
Install, replace, and repair exterior siding systems and related trim on residential and light commercial buildings. Work with vinyl, fiber cement, wood, and metal products; prepare substrates and weather barriers; align and fasten panels per codes and manufacturer specifications; and ensure durable, weather-tight finishes. May also remove existing cladding and perform minor sheathing repairs.
- • Follow established safety rules, use fall protection, and maintain a clean jobsite.
- • Review plans, elevations, and manufacturer specs to determine layout, materials, and courses.
- • Measure walls and openings; snap chalk lines and mark reference points.
- • Cut siding panels and trim to size with snips, shears, saws, and a metal brake.
- • Install weather-resistive barrier and tape or seal seams per code.
- • Integrate window and door flashing with WRB and cladding.
- • Install starter strips, furring or strapping, corner posts, and J-channels.
- • Fasten siding to framing or sheathing with correct nails or screws, spacing, and expansion gaps.
- • Install soffit, fascia, drip edge, and trim components.
- • Flash and seal penetrations, transitions, and terminations for a weather-tight system.
- • Verify level, plumb, and reveal; adjust courses to maintain straight lines.
- • Remove existing siding, trim, and accessories; protect surfaces and landscaping.
- • Inspect sheathing and framing; repair or replace damaged substrate as needed.
- • Coordinate sequencing with roofers, window installers, electricians, and gutter crews.
- • Estimate quantities and order siding, trim, flashing, fasteners, and accessories.
- • Maintain daily logs, photos, and material or labor records.
- • Erect, move, and secure ladders, scaffolds, and pump jacks safely.
- • Bend coil stock to fabricate custom flashings and trim with a brake.
- • Cut and install vents; provide proper soffit and attic ventilation.

- • Work in varied weather; stage materials and protect exposed areas from moisture.
- • Load, transport, and stage materials; handle debris and waste disposal.
- • Follow lead-safe and hazardous materials procedures when required.
- • Maintain communication with clients or site supervisors and schedule crew tasks.
- • Prepare cost estimates and basic takeoffs for proposals or change orders.
