Description
Maintain, repair, and retrofit facility structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials. Diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and install or replace doors, frames, cabinets, drywall, ceilings, flooring, and related hardware in occupied buildings. Coordinate with other trades, follow codes and safety standards, and keep accurate maintenance records.
  • • Follow established safety rules and maintain a clean, secure work area.
  • • Review work orders, blueprints, and sketches to plan repairs and materials.
  • • Inspect buildings to identify damage or wear in woodwork, doors, hardware, floors, walls, and ceilings.
  • • Measure and mark materials accurately using rulers, levels, chalk lines, and gauges.
  • • Cut, shape, and drill materials with hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • • Install, repair, and adjust doors, frames, hinges, locks, closers, and panic hardware.
  • • Install or repair cabinets, shelving, countertops, and custom millwork.
  • • Install, patch, tape, and finish drywall; texture and spot-paint as needed.
  • • Replace or repair ceiling grid and tiles, including acoustic and sound-deadening panels.
  • • Repair or replace wood flooring, thresholds, baseboards, and trim.
  • • Verify plumb, level, and alignment using levels, lasers, and squares.
  • • Assemble and fasten materials using screws, nails, anchors, dowels, and adhesives.
  • • Anchor and brace fixtures, blocking, and equipment supports to structure.
  • • Construct or repair small partitions, temporary walls, and dust containment barriers.
  • • Build or repair small concrete forms and chutes for minor patching work.
  • • Bore holes in wood, masonry, or concrete with drills or rotary hammers.
  • • Erect and use ladders, scaffolds, and lifts for elevated work.
  • • Remove damaged components and replace with code-compliant materials.
  • • Weatherproof openings; install sealants, flashing, insulation, and vapor barriers.
  • • Service and inspect fire-rated doors and frames; adjust and document per code.
  • • Perform minor painting, caulking, and finish repairs incidental to carpentry.
  • • Perform minor plumbing, welding, or concrete mixing tasks related to carpentry work.
  • • Prepare cost and material estimates; order and stage materials.
  • • Maintain records, update CMMS work orders, and document progress and closeouts.
  • • Coordinate schedules with occupants and other trades; arrange subcontractors when required.
  • • Respond to emergency calls and perform temporary make-safe repairs.
  • • Work around hazardous materials in accordance with safety and abatement protocols.
  • • Maintain and service carpentry tools and equipment; manage inventory and supplies.
  • • Install exterior siding and trim repairs as needed.
  • • Dig or direct digging of small post holes and set posts, rails, or signage.
