Description
Oversee biomass fuel supply and yard operations for a power plant. Lead procurement, logistics, inventory, quality control, and safety for biomass fuels and byproducts, coordinating with operations and maintenance to ensure a reliable, compliant, and cost-effective fuel supply.
  • • Source and procure biomass feedstocks; negotiate supplier contracts and pricing.
  • • Plan and schedule fuel deliveries; coordinate transportation, routing, and unloading.
  • • Manage fuel inventory levels, storage capacity, and stockpile turnover.
  • • Compile and record fuel receipts, usage, quality data, and inventory reconciliations.
  • • Enforce fuel quality specifications for moisture, size, and contaminants; arrange sampling and testing.
  • • Optimize fuel blends to meet heat-rate, emissions, and cost targets.
  • • Supervise fuel yard, receiving, scale house, and handling crews.
  • • Inspect conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, silos, and receiving systems; coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  • • Operate or monitor yard control systems, level indicators, and feeders to maintain adequate boiler feed.
  • • Review logs, datasheets, and reports to verify fuel availability, quality, and safe handling conditions.
  • • Ensure compliance with permits and regulations for fuel sourcing, storage, handling, and reporting.
  • • Manage safety programs for fuel areas, including fire prevention and dust control.
  • • Prepare reports on fuel supply status, quality, costs, KPIs, and variances.
  • • Develop and manage fuel budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • • Evaluate generation plans and demand trends to forecast fuel requirements.
  • • Plan ash removal and byproduct disposal or beneficial-use logistics.
  • • Maintain communications with suppliers, drivers, and plant operations to coordinate deliveries and yard activities.
  • • Conduct field inspections of storage piles, receiving stations, and yard equipment for safe and normal conditions.
  • • Manage vendor performance, delivery reliability, and corrective actions.
  • • Develop contingency plans and execute responses to supply disruptions or weather impacts.
  • • Support sustainability and chain-of-custody documentation for eligible biomass fuels.
