Description
Install, inspect, test, calibrate, and repair aircraft flight and engine instruments, pitot-static systems, sensors, and display units to ensure accuracy and airworthiness.
  • • Set up and operate pitot-static, vacuum, and bench test equipment to functionally test instruments and indicating systems.
  • • Test and troubleshoot instruments, transmitters, and wiring using multimeters, pressure/vacuum testers, and oscilloscopes.
  • • Keep records of maintenance, repairs, and instrument calibrations.
  • • Coordinate work with avionics technicians, A&P mechanics, and engineers.
  • • Analyze flight data and pilot write-ups to diagnose instrument and indication faults.
  • • Install, remove, and align instruments, panels, sensors, and associated wiring using hand tools and soldering equipment.
  • • Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning indicators, transducers, synchros, or servo units.
  • • Connect and route pitot-static lines, electrical connectors, and data buses to instruments and displays.
  • • Assemble and refurbish instrument panels, control heads, and junction boxes.
  • • Fabricate instrument mounts, brackets, placards, and test harnesses as required.
  • • Lay out installations using blueprints, maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • • Build or modify test fixtures and mock-ups for instrument evaluation.
  • • Use CAD to design instrument panel changes and document modifications.
