Description
Install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft electrical power generation, distribution, lighting, and wiring systems, ensuring safe operation and proper integration with avionics and mechanical systems.
- • Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional tests of aircraft electrical systems.
- • Test and troubleshoot wiring, connectors, and electrical components using multimeters, megohmmeters, TDRs, and oscilloscopes.
- • Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, and modifications in maintenance logs and digital systems.
- • Coordinate work with engineers, avionics technicians, and other maintenance personnel to resolve electrical issues.
- • Interpret fault codes, BITE data, and system indications to diagnose electrical malfunctions and performance problems.
- • Install and route wiring harnesses, connectors, clamps, and conduits using approved crimping, soldering, and termination methods.
- • Adjust, repair, or replace generators/alternators, starters, batteries, relays, switches, contactors, and circuit breakers.
- • Connect electrical components to power distribution, lighting, environmental control, de-ice/anti-ice, and avionics power interfaces per specifications.
- • Assemble and install switches, junction boxes, terminal blocks, bus bars, and control panels.
- • Fabricate and tag wire harnesses, brackets, and custom test leads as required.
- • Lay out and secure wiring and electrical system installations per blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and bonding/grounding checks and complete power-on verification tests.
- • Use electrical schematic software and technical publications to document changes and support system modifications.
