Description
Set up, operate, monitor, and strike audio-visual systems—including microphones, speakers, mixers, video switchers, cameras, projectors/displays, cabling, and streaming gear—for live, hybrid, and recorded events such as conferences, meetings, conventions, galas, and concerts. Troubleshoot issues, ensure show quality, and support presenters and production teams.
  • • Review event orders, floor plans, and run-of-show to determine AV needs.
  • • Load in, set up, test, and strike audio and video equipment for events.
  • • Patch and label signal paths for audio, video, and intercom.
  • • Mix live sound for speech, panels, and performances.
  • • Operate video switchers to route cameras, computers, and playback to screens and streams.
  • • Monitor audio levels, image quality, and sync during shows; alert show caller of issues.
  • • Coordinate RF microphones and in-ear monitors (IEMs), including frequency planning and scanning.
  • • Set and focus basic lighting and cue lighting looks as directed.
  • • Configure projectors, LED walls, and monitors; align, scale, and color-balance displays.
  • • Load, test, and advance presenter media, slide decks, and video playback.
  • • Provide presenter support, including mic fitting, IFB, clickers, and confidence monitors.
  • • Record program and isolated feeds; manage and back up media files.
  • • Troubleshoot and resolve AV, networking, and power issues under time constraints.
  • • Perform minor repairs and routine cleaning of AV gear and cabling.
  • • Implement cable management and safety practices, including taping and matting.
  • • Build input lists, stage plots, patch sheets, and cue sheets.
  • • Communicate with producers, stage managers, and venue staff to execute cues.
  • • Lead or direct stagehands and junior AV techs during load-in, show, and strike.
  • • Set up and operate video conferencing and streaming encoders for hybrid events.
  • • Switch between program sources and playback elements according to cue.
  • • Control house sound and lighting before, during, and after sessions and intermissions.
  • • Maintain equipment inventories, checklists, and usage logs.
  • • Notify supervisors when major repairs or replacements are needed.
  • • Ensure compliance with venue policies, electrical and rigging guidelines, and RF regulations.
  • • Coordinate rentals, deliveries, and subrented gear as needed.
  • • Train clients or presenters on podium interfaces and basic AV controls.
  • • Create quick-reference docs and labels for repeatable setups.
  • • Secure and store equipment, cables, and accessories after events.
  • • Recommend equipment and configuration options within budget constraints.
  • • Provide basic on-site editing or content adjustments when required.
