Description
Set up, operate, maintain, and dismantle professional audio systems, including microphones, wireless, mixers, speakers, cabling, DSP, recorders, and intercom, for live or recorded events such as concerts, meetings, broadcasts, podcasts, conferences, and sporting events, ensuring clean, balanced sound and reliable signal flow.
  • • Notify supervisors when major equipment repairs are needed.
  • • Monitor incoming and outgoing audio feeds and levels to ensure quality and alert directors or producers to issues.
  • • Mix and regulate sound inputs and feeds for live and recorded productions.
  • • Design layouts of audio systems, including mic placement, cabling, speakers, and DSP, and perform upgrades and maintenance.
  • • Perform minor repairs, firmware updates, and routine cleaning of audio equipment.
  • • Configure and route audio sources between microphones, playback, intercom, and recorders.
  • • Meet with directors, stage managers, and talent to plan audio needs, cues, and coverage.
  • • Set and position microphones, stands, DI boxes, monitors, and related gear.
  • • Digitize, compress, archive, and back up audio files and session data.
  • • Obtain, set up, and load playback tracks and session templates for scheduled productions.
  • • Edit, clean, and assemble audio segments as required.
  • • Direct and coordinate activities of audio assistants (A2s) and stagehands during setup and shows.
  • • Develop input lists, patch sheets, cue sheets, and system diagrams from pre-production notes.
  • • Maintain inventories of microphones, cables, wireless packs, batteries, and audio supplies.
  • • Determine capture formats, sample rates, mic techniques, and signal paths to meet objectives and budgets.
  • • Record and edit audio material, such as music, dialog, and effects, using recording and editing software.
  • • Inform users and clients of audio service policies, procedures, and safe operating practices.
  • • Review musical programs or rundowns prior to events to plan mic changes and cue timing.
  • • Program and tune DSP, EQ, dynamics, and system processing for venues and events.
  • • Select and secure acoustic treatments, isolation, and accessories needed for production.
  • • Control sound reinforcement, monitors, and intercom during rehearsals, performances, and intermissions.
  • • Conduct training on selection, use, and care of microphones, mixers, and audio software.
  • • Organize and maintain compliance, license, and warranty records for audio systems and software.
  • • Develop quick-reference guides and SOPs for audio setups and operations.
  • • Install, align, and operate audio equipment to record, edit, stream, or broadcast programs and meetings.
  • • Diagnose and resolve audio system hums, RF interference, latency, and routing problems.
  • • Schedule and reserve audio equipment, studios, and rehearsal spaces.
  • • Analyze and maintain audio logs, patch notes, and show documentation.
