Description
Install, configure, and commission professional audiovisual systems for conference rooms, classrooms, and venues. Read plans; pull and terminate cable; mount and rack equipment; integrate control, DSP, and AV-over-IP; test, calibrate, and document; train users and hand off systems. Troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and coordinate with trades while meeting safety and quality standards.
  • • Perform site surveys and interpret blueprints, risers, and scope documents.
  • • Design equipment layouts and cable pathways within project constraints.
  • • Pull, label, and secure structured cabling (Cat, fiber, speaker, control).
  • • Mount and secure displays, projectors, projection screens, speakers, and cameras.
  • • Build and dress equipment racks, patch panels, and power management.
  • • Terminate and test connectors (RJ45, XLR, BNC, Phoenix, fiber).
  • • Configure and commission DSPs, switchers, amplifiers, and wireless mic systems.
  • • Load firmware and apply device configurations per engineering files.
  • • Integrate control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS) and verify device control.
  • • Set up AV-over-IP endpoints and coordinate network settings with IT.
  • • Verify EDID/HDCP handshakes, video resolutions, and audio routing.
  • • Calibrate audio levels, EQ, and room tuning; focus and frame cameras.
  • • Conduct functional testing, QA, and punch-list remediation.
  • • Document as-builts, cable schedules, and test results.
  • • Provide end-user orientation and basic system training.
  • • Diagnose and resolve installation and signal path issues.
  • • Notify supervisors and vendors when major repairs or RMAs are needed.
  • • Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and routine cleaning of AV equipment.
  • • Maintain inventory, tools, and vehicle stock; track materials used.
  • • Adhere to safety codes; operate lifts, ladders, and PPE safely.
  • • Coordinate work with general contractors, electricians, and other trades.
  • • Attend jobsite meetings and communicate status, risks, and dependencies.
  • • Prepare redlines and change-order notes for scope deviations.
  • • Schedule and sequence tasks to meet milestones and deadlines.
  • • Organize and maintain compliance, license, and warranty information.
  • • Create user guides and quick-start sheets for installed systems.
  • • Support preventative maintenance and service calls after installation.
  • • Analyze and maintain installation and commissioning logs.
