Description
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses within an academic discipline and engage in scholarship and service. Includes faculty primarily focused on teaching and those combining teaching, research, and service.
- • Conduct research or creative scholarship and publish in peer-reviewed journals, books, or digital media.
- • Write grant proposals to secure external or internal funding.
- • Stay current in the discipline through literature, conferences, and professional networks.
- • Supervise undergraduate and graduate research, teaching assistants, internships, or practica.
- • Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and online instruction for undergraduate and graduate courses.
- • Supervise laboratory, studio, clinical, or field work as appropriate to the discipline.

- • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, pedagogy, and research initiatives.
- • Create, administer, and grade assessments, or oversee others who do so.
- • Design, assess, and revise curricula, course content, and instructional methods.
- • Facilitate discussions and active learning in classrooms and online settings.
- • Hold regular office hours to advise and assist students.
- • Advise students on academic planning, research opportunities, and career pathways.
- • Maintain attendance, grades, and other required academic records.
- • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, advising, and placement activities.
- • Perform administrative and leadership duties, such as program coordination or department chair service.
- • Select and procure textbooks, software, lab supplies, and other instructional materials.
- • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- • Compile and curate bibliographies and resource lists for assigned readings.
- • Provide professional consulting or expert services to government, industry, or community partners.
- • Advise and mentor student organizations and extracurricular groups.
- • Engage in campus, outreach, and community engagement events.
- • Acquire, manage, and maintain equipment, data, and facilities supporting teaching and research.
- • Review manuscripts and grant proposals; serve on editorial or review panels.
- • Communicate expertise to the public and media and respond to inquiries.
