Description
Teach primarily undergraduate courses and labs in atmospheric, earth, marine, and space sciences; develop and assess curriculum; advise students; and contribute to departmental service and outreach. Emphasis is on teaching excellence, field and laboratory instruction, and continuous professional development; limited involvement in grants or scholarly projects may occur as assigned.
  • • Prepare and deliver undergraduate lectures and labs in atmospheric, earth, marine, and space sciences.
  • • Develop syllabi, assignments, laboratory exercises, rubrics, and course handouts.
  • • Supervise laboratory and field activities and enforce safety protocols.
  • • Evaluate and grade coursework, labs, projects, and exams in a timely manner.
  • • Compile, administer, and proctor examinations.
  • • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
  • • Advise students on academic pathways, internships, and career options.
  • • Supervise and mentor undergraduate teaching assistants and interns.
  • • Plan, evaluate, and revise course content, curricula, and instructional methods.
  • • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions and active-learning activities.
  • • Maintain attendance, grades, and other required student records.
  • • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, and retention initiatives.
  • • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate courses and align learning outcomes.
  • • Select and procure textbooks, software, lab supplies, and field equipment.
  • • Manage and maintain instructional equipment and learning spaces.
  • • Serve on departmental and college committees and attend meetings.
  • • Act as adviser to relevant student organizations.
  • • Participate in campus and community outreach and public education events.
  • • Keep current in the field and in pedagogy through reading, training, and conferences.
  • • Develop and maintain course sites in the learning management system and other online platforms.
  • • Ensure accessibility, equity, and compliance with institutional policies in all courses.
  • • Integrate field trips, instrumentation, remote sensing, and data analysis into coursework.
  • • Support program assessment, learning-outcomes measurement, and accreditation reporting.
  • • Collaborate on curriculum or educational grant proposals as assigned.
  • • Review instructional materials and contribute to peer reviews of courses.
  • • Respond to inquiries from students, the public, and media in coordination with the department.
