Description
Enforce dog control laws and respond to complaints, investigating mistreatment and managing stray, dangerous, or unattended dogs to protect public safety and animal welfare.
- • Investigate reports of dog attacks or cruelty, interview witnesses, collect evidence, and write reports.
- • Capture and remove stray, aggressive, or neglected dogs using catch poles, nets, muzzles, or tranquilizers when necessary.
- • Examine dogs for injuries, illness, or malnutrition and arrange veterinary care or rabies observation.
- • Transport captured dogs and place them in shelter kennels or quarantine enclosures.
- • Euthanize rabid, unclaimed, or severely injured dogs per laws and protocols.
- • Provide impounded dogs with food, water, enrichment, and basic care.
- • Clean and disinfect dog kennels, vehicles, and equipment.
- • Prepare cases for prosecution related to dog bites, cruelty, or dangerous-dog violations, and testify in court.
