Description
Enforce animal control laws and protect public safety by responding to calls, investigating cruelty and attacks, capturing and transporting stray or dangerous animals, and coordinating care, sheltering, and legal actions.
  • • Check licenses and inspect animal facilities for compliance.
  • • Coordinate adoption, rescue, or transfer of unclaimed animals.
  • • Investigate animal attacks and cruelty; interview witnesses, collect evidence, and document findings.
  • • Patrol assigned areas and respond to dispatched calls and emergencies.
  • • Capture and remove stray, dangerous, or abused animals using nets, catch poles, or tranquilizers.
  • • Assess animals for injury or neglect and arrange veterinary care.
  • • Transfer captured animals from vehicles to shelter enclosures.
  • • Humanely euthanize rabid, unclaimed, or severely injured animals per policy.
  • • Provide animals with food, water, and basic care.
  • • Clean and disinfect kennels, vehicles, and equipment.
  • • Prepare case files and testify in court for animal-related offenses.
  • • Educate the public on animal welfare and ordinances; respond to inquiries.
  • • Notify owners of impounded animals and explain reclaim procedures.
  • • Write incident reports and maintain impoundment and disposition records.
  • • Enforce laws; issue warnings or citations and coordinate with police as needed.
