Description
Ensure safe, efficient ground handling of commercial aircraft. Responsibilities include marshalling and parking, loading and unloading baggage and cargo, operating ground service equipment, coordinating fueling, deicing, and pushback with flight crews and operations, enforcing ramp safety and security, and maintaining accurate load, weight-and-balance inputs, and service records.
- • Follow and enforce ramp safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- • Marshal aircraft to and from gates and monitor parking and chocking.
- • Position chocks, cones, wing-walk, and set safety zones.
- • Load and unload baggage, mail, and cargo; sort and transfer bags.
- • Operate tugs, belt loaders, bag carts, GPUs, air starts, and towbars safely.
- • Communicate with flight crews via headset and with ramp/operations by radio.
- • Coordinate fueling, catering, cleaning, lavatory, and potable water services.
- • Provide accurate bag and cargo counts and weight-and-balance inputs to load control.
- • Prepare aircraft for pushback; obtain clearance, connect towbar, and coordinate push/tow.
- • Update operations and gate staff on arrival/departure status, delays, and ramp conditions.
- • Monitor schedules, gate changes, and weather impacts; adjust turnaround plans.
- • Maintain records of load counts, service times, and equipment usage.
- • Perform FOD walks; remove debris and report ramp hazards.
- • Inspect ramp areas, equipment, and GSE for safety and regulatory compliance.
- • Verify baggage tags and cargo documentation against manifests.
- • Secure aircraft with chocks and cones; install/remove ground power and conditioned air.
- • Position and secure jet bridge or passenger stairs as authorized.
- • Assist with deicing and anti-icing operations and coordinate with deice teams.
- • Conduct pre-arrival and pre-departure briefs with ramp team members.
- • Respond to ramp emergencies, fuel spills, and irregular operations per procedures.
- • Maintain secure ramp access; check badges and secure gates and doors.
- • Report equipment defects and request maintenance in a timely manner.
- • Support snow and ice removal around gates and walkways.
- • Train and mentor new ramp agents on procedures and equipment.
