Description
Install, fit, and secure tempered and laminated safety glass in buildings, vehicles, and equipment, including storefronts, doors, partitions, railings, shower enclosures, and windshields, using frames, gaskets, adhesives, and hardware; ensure alignment, weather sealing, and code compliance.
  • • Measure openings and read blueprints, shop drawings, and glazing schedules to plan installations.
  • • Assemble frames, subframes, and anchorage for safety glass systems.
  • • Position and align glass units with suction cups, shims, levels, and templates.
  • • Fit, set, and secure panes using setting blocks, spacers, sealants, tapes, clips, or glazing beads.
  • • Join and fasten frame sections, mullions, and rails to structure per specifications.
  • • Lay out and mark cut lines, drill points, and hardware locations on frames or laminated glass.
  • • Attach brackets, hinges, clamps, point fittings, and handrail hardware for doors and railings.
  • • Clean and prime bonding surfaces; apply activators before sealing or adhesion.
  • • Inspect installations for plumb, level, edge clearances, gasket compression, and surface defects.
  • • Clean glass and frames; remove excess sealant and protect finished surfaces.
  • • Adjust and align glass doors, sliders, patch fittings, closers, and locks to tolerance.
  • • Fabricate or modify aluminum frames, stops, caps, and trims with saws, drills, and routers.
  • • Operate glass cutters, laminate cutters, edge polishers, or drilling tools when required.
  • • Mix, apply, and tool silicones, urethanes, or butyl sealants to specified profiles.
  • • Verify glass type, thickness, temper/laminate stamps, and dimensions before installation.
  • • Label, tag, and stage units by opening and sequence for efficient workflow.
  • • Cut and fit gaskets, glazing vinyl, weatherstripping, backer rod, and setting blocks.
  • • Install storefronts, curtain wall infills, shower enclosures, partitions, and guardrails with safety glass.
  • • Remove failed or broken glass; scrape out old compounds and prepare substrates.
  • • Rig and signal cranes or vacuum lifters to hoist and place large glass lites safely.
  • • Install automotive windshields, backlites, and sidelites; prep pinch welds and set with urethane.
  • • Perform leak, water, or wind tests; remediate air or water infiltration.
  • • Calibrate ADAS cameras or sensors after windshield replacement when required.
  • • Capture and segregate glass shards, metal offcuts, and solvent waste for recycling or proper disposal.
  • • Use low-VOC cleaners and primers; follow environmental and safety procedures.
  • • Maintain tools, suction cups, and PPE; conduct pre-use inspections.
  • • Document measurements, lot numbers, cure times, and code compliance for quality records.
