Description
Assemble, route, and install aircraft hydraulic systems and components—including tubing, hoses, pumps, reservoirs, manifolds, valves, actuators, and fittings—ensuring cleanliness, alignment, leak-free performance, and compliance with blueprints, schematics, and aerospace standards.
- • Assemble hydraulic subassemblies (manifolds, pumps, reservoirs, valves, actuators).
- • Position and align hydraulic subassemblies in jigs or fixtures per blueprints and schematics.
- • Route, align, and secure hydraulic lines and hoses using clamps and supports.
- • Set up and operate tube fabrication equipment to cut, bend, flare, bead, swage, form, and straighten tubing to spec.
- • Crimp and qualify hose assemblies with correct ends and sleeves.
- • Prepare and install fittings, ferrules, and adapters; torque to specification using calibrated tools.
- • Fabricate brackets and supports for hydraulic components as needed.
- • Lay out and mark reference points for installation using templates and measuring tools.
- • Cut and deburr tubing; trim, file, or smooth parts for proper fit and clearance.
- • Clean, flush, and dry components and lines to required cleanliness levels before assembly.
- • Install seals, O-rings, backup rings, and gaskets; apply lubricants or sealants per spec.
- • Braze or weld tube joints and fittings when required, following approved processes.
- • Install and connect actuators, pumps, reservoirs, accumulators, filters, and manifolds.
- • Inspect and verify dimensions, alignment, clearances, and torque with measuring instruments and gauges.
- • Perform pressure, proof, and leak tests using test stands and calibrated gauges; record results.
- • Bleed, purge, and service hydraulic systems with approved fluids.
- • Assemble prototypes or test rigs for new or upgraded hydraulic systems.
- • Read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic schematics, work instructions, and specifications.
- • Troubleshoot leaks, restrictions, and malfunctions; adjust, repair, rework, or replace parts.
- • Mark and label tubes, hoses, and assemblies with part numbers and flow direction.
- • Capture, segregate, and recycle waste materials and fluids per environmental procedures.
- • Clean parts and work areas; apply protective caps and plugs to prevent FOD and contamination.
- • Install accessories and set up swaging and crimping machines as required.
- • Coordinate with adjacent systems (landing gear, brakes, flight controls) to ensure proper integration.
- • Document build data, test results, and nonconformances in production records.
- • Maintain tooling, test equipment, and calibration status; report defects or out-of-tolerance conditions.
- • Comply with safety procedures and PPE requirements for hydraulic fluids and pressurized systems.
