Description
Plan, supervise, and certify the loading, unloading, securing, and staging of aircraft cargo and baggage. Determine cargo quantity, orientation, and weight distribution, and compute aircraft center of gravity. Serve as a flight crew member to monitor and handle cargo in flight and brief passengers on safety and emergency procedures.
- • Distribute cargo and passengers to maximize space and maintain weight and balance limits.
- • Calculate compartment loads and compute aircraft center of gravity using charts and software.
- • Direct and verify ground crews in loading, unloading, securing, and staging of cargo and baggage.
- • Determine cargo orientation and restraint requirements and certify weight-and-balance data.
- • Accompany aircraft as flight crew to monitor cargo, restraints, and conditions in flight.
- • Brief passengers on safety and emergency procedures and train personnel on loading and equipment operation.
