Description
Operate or tend sealing machines to close or join packages, pouches, or components using heat, pressure, induction, or ultrasonic methods for further processing or finished products. Processes include sealing plastic film, foil lidding, blister packs, and laminated materials.
- • Start machines and use controls to feed materials and set temperature, pressure, and time settings.
- • Perform test runs and adjust settings to achieve required seal strength and appearance.
- • Clear jams or misfeeds and readjust guides, tension, or seal jaws to resume operations.
- • Align and position materials to ensure accurate registration and consistent seals.
- • Observe gauges, sensors, and control panels for temperatures, pressures, and line speed.
- • Remove, stack, and label finished items; restock materials to be sealed.
- • Examine and measure sealed products to verify conformance to specifications, using rulers, gauges, or calipers.
- • Adjust sealing parameters such as temperature, pressure, dwell time, seal width, and conveyor speed to match material and product specs.
- • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and report or resolve issues.
- • Read work orders and coordinate with coworkers on sealing settings, materials, lot codes, and packaging requirements.
- • Load rolls of film, pouches, lids, or trays into feeders or magazines.
- • Mount and align plastic film, foil, and laminated webs on unwinders and threading paths of sealing machines.
- • Maintain production and quality records, including quantities, dimensions, seal parameters, and lot numbers.
- • Clean and maintain sealing machines, seal bars, and conveyors; replace Teflon covers and worn parts.
- • Transport materials, supplies, and finished goods between storage and work areas using forklifts or pallet jacks.
- • Set up and change over sealing tooling, printing, and coding equipment; perform seal integrity checks such as pull or burst tests.
