Description
Apply and cure cement adhesives by hand or with cementing and pressing equipment to join, laminate, or seal materials for further processing or finished products, including rubber, leather, plastic, wood, paper, and similar materials.
- • Examine and measure bonded parts to verify conformance to specifications, using gauges, calipers, or tape measures.
- • Adjust cement viscosity, spread rate, and machine settings to match material width, thickness, and bond requirements.
- • Monitor cementing and curing operations; detect malfunctions and correct or report issues.
- • Read work orders and drawings to set up equipment and confirm materials, mixes, and settings.
- • Fill reservoirs and pots with prepared cement or adhesive; replenish activators or primers as needed.
- • Load and feed materials such as rubber, leather, plastics, paper, or wood into cementing or pressing equipment.
- • Maintain production logs, recording quantities processed, dimensions, cure times, and lot numbers.
- • Start cementing, pressing, or curing equipment and set temperature, pressure, dwell time, and conveyor speed.
- • Perform trial runs and sample bonds; adjust application and settings to meet quality standards.
- • Clear jams or misfeeds and realign guides, rollers, or feeders to resume normal operation.
- • Prepare, align, and position surfaces to be bonded; clean, roughen, and prime as required for adhesion.
- • Apply cement manually by brush, roller, dauber, or spray as specified; control coverage and overlap.
- • Observe gauges, meters, and control panels to track pot temperature, viscosity, pressure, and speed.
- • Remove, stack, and label bonded or laminated products; restock components for the next run.
- • Clean and maintain cementing tools and equipment; remove build-up and replace worn rollers, brushes, or hoses.
- • Measure and mix ingredients to prepare cement formulations; follow safety, ventilation, and handling procedures.
