Description
Analyze tax data and laws to determine liabilities, prepare and review filings and payments, and resolve tax issues for individuals or businesses while ensuring accurate reporting and regulatory compliance.
- • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns and payments in accordance with laws and deadlines.
- • Monitor tax law and regulatory changes and apply them to returns, planning, and reporting.
- • Maintain organized workpapers, case notes, contacts, and supporting documentation.
- • Collaborate with clients or internal stakeholders to clarify tax issues and documentation requirements.
- • Request, collect, and validate supporting records to resolve discrepancies in filings.

- • Validate taxpayer information, computations, and tie-outs to source documents and ledgers.
- • Analyze tax assets, liabilities, and reconciliations to resolve variances and close issues.
- • Evaluate and recommend strategies to resolve tax notices or disputes, including amended returns, payment plans, or penalty abatements.
- • Draft technical responses, memos, and supporting documentation for audits, notices, and ruling requests.
- • Coordinate with legal, finance, and external advisors on powers of attorney, filings, and correspondence with tax authorities.
- • Model the tax impact of transactions and planning initiatives and document positions.
- • Support quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations, deferred taxes, and tax journal entries.
- • Participate in meetings or calls with tax authorities to resolve inquiries and negotiate outcomes.
- • Provide guidance to stakeholders on tax forms, reporting requirements, and data collection.
