Description
Lead the casting process for film, television, theater, and commercials by identifying, auditioning, and recommending performers for roles in collaboration with producers and directors.
  • • Break down scripts and collaborate with producers and directors to define character specs and casting needs.
  • • Review headshots, resumes, reels, self-tapes, and union status to determine audition invitations.
  • • Issue breakdowns and coordinate audition invitations and schedules with agents and actors.
  • • Plan and run auditions, callbacks, and chemistry reads to assess fit for roles.
  • • Design and film screen tests; manage self-tape guidelines and submissions.
  • • Recommend shortlists and cast performers, securing approvals from producers and directors.
  • • Initiate offers and coordinate deal terms with agents and business affairs.
  • • Maintain databases of talent, including specialties, credits, demos, and availability.
  • • Liaise among directors, producers, actors, and agents throughout the casting process.
  • • Scout talent by attending showcases, theater, festivals, and by viewing new releases and reels.
  • • Hire and oversee casting associates, assistants, and session runners.
  • • Cast principal and day-player roles; coordinate with extras casting for background, stand-ins, and doubles.
  • • Distribute sides and role briefs; communicate casting requirements and logistics.
  • • Manage casting calendars, session logistics, and budgets.
  • • Track casting progress and ensure union and production compliance requirements are met.
