- • Build and validate statistical forecasts using historical data and market intelligence.
- • Translate demand plans into master production schedules and material plans (MPS/MRP).
- • Set and maintain planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, min/max, reorder points).
- • Segment the portfolio (ABC/XYZ, lifecycle) to tailor planning and inventory policies.
- • Define service-level targets and optimize inventory across plants and distribution centers.
- • Conduct rough-cut and long-range capacity planning; identify bottlenecks and mitigation.
- • Run scenario and what-if analyses for demand surges, supply disruptions, and promotions.
- • Establish demand, supply, and executive S&OP governance calendars and workflows.
- • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing on promotions, new product introductions, and phase-outs.
- • Plan NPI, ECO, and phase-in/phase-out to ensure smooth transitions and minimal obsolescence.
- • Align with Procurement on supplier capacity, lead times, and constraints; share forecasts and commits.
- • Meet with key suppliers to review demand signals, commits, and readiness.
- • Monitor supplier reliability and adjust buffers and planning parameters accordingly.
- • Develop allocation, ATP/CTP, and order promising rules during constrained supply.
- • Plan inventory positioning and replenishment across the network to balance cost and service.
- • Model end-to-end supply chain flows to support planning decisions and customer discussions.
- • Define and track KPIs (forecast accuracy/bias, plan adherence, OTIF, inventory turns, DOH).
- • Monitor demand changes and quotas; adjust plans and communicate impacts.
- • Identify and resolve supply-demand imbalances; trigger expedite, de-expedite, or reschedule actions.
- • Maintain planning master data quality (BOMs, routings, calendars, lead times).
- • Evaluate and implement APS/ERP planning tools, analytics, and dashboards.
- • Document planning processes, role responsibilities, calendars, and data flows.
- • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, parameters, and data governance.
- • Provide volume and mix outlooks for budgeting, capacity investments, and financial forecasts.
- • Collaborate with Logistics on DC replenishment plans and network transfer requirements.
- • Set stocking strategies for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to reduce waste and E&O.
- • Incorporate sustainability and regulatory considerations into planning and obsolescence management.
- • Support supplier selection and qualification with capacity and flexibility assessments.
- • Assess supplier and internal manufacturing capability models for planning accuracy.
- • Develop risk registers and playbooks for shortages, substitutions, and alternate sourcing.
- • Lead, coach, and develop the planning team; determine staffing and skill requirements.
