Description
Receive, inspect, and ship goods while maintaining accurate records of all inbound and outbound materials. Verify contents against documentation, prepare shipments, coordinate carriers and pickups, and keep shipping/receiving areas organized and compliant with company and safety standards.
- • Prepare shipping and receiving documents—work orders, bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping orders—to route materials.
- • Record inbound and outbound shipment data—weights, charges, space, damages, and discrepancies—for reporting and accounting.
- • Coordinate pickups and deliveries by contacting carrier representatives and issuing clear shipping instructions.
- • Communicate with internal departments and vendors to resolve damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
- • Requisition and maintain shipping/receiving materials and supplies to keep stock on hand.
- • Calculate shipping, storage, and related charges and space requirements using computer systems or rate sheets.
- • Select cost-effective and timely shipping methods, routes, or carriers.
- • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments and compare contents with manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
- • Pack, palletize, seal, and label materials; affix postage or carrier labels using hand or power tools and postage meters.
- • Deliver or route received materials to departments using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
- • Update logs or WMS/ERP systems to track receipts, shipments, and status.
