Description
Apply science-based rangeland management to sustain forage, livestock, wildlife, and ecosystem health by designing grazing and restoration plans, monitoring conditions, and providing technical guidance to landowners and agencies.
  • • Collect and analyze vegetation and soil data for biological assessments, NEPA documents, and rangeland monitoring.
  • • Develop practices to maintain soil stability and vegetation for wildlife habitat and recreation.
  • • Facilitate stakeholder agreements on appropriate land use and management.
  • • Plan and implement prescribed fire, targeted herbicide, and revegetation to sustain forage yields.
  • • Evaluate management practices and research range issues to sustain forage, livestock, and wildlife.
  • • Advise landowners and permittees on water management, forage production, and brush control.
  • • Plan and oversee range improvements, including fencing, corrals, water developments, and erosion-control structures.
  • • Develop conservation plans aligned with landowner or agency goals for livestock, wildlife, or recreation.
  • • Draft and maintain technical standards and specifications for managing and protecting rangelands.
  • • Analyze grazing capacity, timing, and class of livestock to optimize use and protect resources.
  • • Design and implement revegetation and restoration of disturbed sites.
  • • Assess forage species and site requirements to recommend suitable plant varieties.
  • • Develop and apply methods to reduce wildfire risk, rodent damage, and poisonous plant hazards.
  • • Pilot and refine techniques and tools for range seeding, monitoring, and treatment effectiveness.
  • • Administer grazing permits, ensure compliance with standards, and help design adaptive grazing systems.
  • • Coordinate with federal, state, tribal, and local partners to manage and protect rangelands.
