Description
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate stewardship of land, water, and wildlife resources to sustain ecosystem services, biodiversity, and responsible use.
  • • Measure and assess vegetation, habitat, water, and soils for environmental reviews, impact assessments, and monitoring programs.
  • • Maintain soil, water, and vegetation health to support wildlife habitat, watershed protection, and recreation.
  • • Facilitate agreements among land users, agencies, tribes, and conservation groups on appropriate land use and management.
  • • Use tools such as prescribed fire, invasive species control, grazing management, and revegetation to sustain ecosystem function.
  • • Study and apply natural resource management practices to sustain biodiversity, ecosystem services, and compatible land uses.
  • • Advise landowners and stakeholders on water management, habitat enhancement, and vegetation control.
  • • Plan and oversee conservation infrastructure, such as fencing, water developments, trails, and erosion-control structures.
  • • Develop site-specific resource management plans aligned with landowner and community goals.
  • • Develop and apply technical standards and best practices to manage, protect, and improve natural resources.
  • • Assess land-use capacity, including grazing, recreation, forestry, and wildlife needs, to balance ecological and economic objectives.
  • • Plan and implement restoration and revegetation of disturbed or degraded sites.
  • • Evaluate native plant communities and site conditions to select species and treatments suited to local ecosystems.
  • • Develop methods to reduce risks from wildfire, pests, and invasive species, and to protect critical habitats.
  • • Test and refine monitoring tools, GIS workflows, and restoration techniques.
  • • Administer permits and ensure compliance with environmental laws and resource protection standards; help users design sustainable land-use systems.
  • • Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies, tribes, NGOs, and communities to manage and protect natural resources.
