Description
Assist radiologists and imaging technologists with diagnostic procedures by preparing and positioning patients, setting up rooms and equipment, supporting image acquisition, and maintaining safety and documentation. Works under supervision and may perform limited imaging tasks and assist with contrast per protocol.
- • Review images for completeness and correct identifiers; alert staff if repeats or additional views are needed.
- • Assist with operation of radiologic or MRI equipment under supervision to produce prescribed images.
- • Position patients and adjust supports to obtain requested views as directed by provider or technologist.
- • Process and route digital images and documents through PACS.
- • Apply radiation safety measures and protective devices for patients, staff, and self.
- • Set up and align equipment, accessories, and immobilization devices per exam specifications.
- • Explain procedures and provide comfort measures to ensure patient safety and cooperation.
- • Verify orders, indications, and protocols; clarify discrepancies with providers.
- • Enter patient and exam data; select or confirm protocol parameters as directed.
- • Obtain and document relevant medical history, allergies, and pregnancy status.
- • Assist with exposures and scan sequences under supervision, adhering to quality standards.
- • Prepare exam rooms, supplies, and contrast materials before each procedure.
- • Operate PACS and RIS to track, annotate, and distribute studies.
- • Transport or escort patients safely to and from imaging areas.
- • Monitor patients during and after procedures; report abnormal signs promptly.
- • Assist radiologists and technologists during complex or interventional procedures.
- • Support mobile imaging setups in the OR, ED, or at bedside under supervision.
- • Record procedure details, contrast usage, and post-exam notes; prepare documentation for review.
- • Support multiple modalities by preparing patients and equipment as needed under supervision.
- • Assist patients with dressing, transfers, and positioning aids.
- • Perform basic quality control checks and report equipment issues immediately.
- • Maintain and update exam protocols and patient preparation instructions.
- • Handle phones, scheduling, exam prep calls, and retrieve or file records.
- • Help orient and mentor new staff or students on workflows and safety practices.
- • Prepare and assist with contrast materials per protocol and under radiologist supervision.
- • Assist with fluoroscopic procedures by preparing trays, positioning patients, and operating table or injector controls as directed.
- • Coordinate daily room assignments and patient flow as directed by supervisor.
- • Collaborate with clerical staff, nurses, and transport to optimize throughput.
- • Provide input on supply needs, schedules, and workflow improvements.
- • Suggest alternate positioning or additional views to improve image quality, per protocol and supervision.
