Description
Transport patients to operating, imaging, and treatment areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or moveable beds; maintain supplies and clean or move equipment. Psychiatric duties are handled by Psychiatric Aides.
- • Collect soiled linen and trash.
- • Answer patient call lights or intercoms to determine needs.
- • Carry messages or documents between departments.
- • Change soiled bed linens, drapes, or cubicle curtains.
- • Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, and exam areas.
- • Clean wheelchairs, beds, and portable equipment; report needed repairs.
- • Collect and transport infectious or hazardous waste in closed containers per policy.
- • Disinfect or sterilize equipment or supplies.
- • Lift, transfer, or assist patients onto beds, exam tables, or stretchers.
- • Position or hold patients for surgical preparation.
- • Respond to emergencies, including medical calls, security incidents, or fire alarms.
- • Apply or assist with restraints per policy and under clinical direction.
- • Serve or collect patient meal trays.
- • Stock and issue dressing packs, treatment trays, and other supplies.
- • Stock utility rooms and cleaning carts with supplies.
- • Transport deceased patients to the morgue.
- • Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to procedures or units.
- • Move portable medical equipment and supplies between rooms or departments.
- • Transport specimens, laboratory items, or pharmacy items with proper documentation.
- • Turn or reposition bedridden patients to prevent pressure injuries.
- • Provide physical support to help patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, toileting, standing, walking, or exercising.
- • Separate collected materials for disposal, recycling, or reuse per policy.
