Description
Move surgical patients to and from operating rooms using stretchers or beds; assist with transfers and positioning for procedures. Clean and turn over OR suites, disinfect and transport equipment, and stock sterile supplies. Transport specimens, blood products, and bodies per policy, and support OR staff during emergencies and routine workflows.
  • • Transport pre-op and post-op patients to and from operating rooms using stretchers or beds.
  • • Assist with transfers to surgical tables and reposition patients as directed.
  • • Position or hold patients for surgical preparation under clinical supervision.
  • • Apply safety straps, raise rails, and ensure patient comfort during transport.
  • • Clean and disinfect operating rooms between cases according to infection control protocols.
  • • Change soiled linens and prepare stretchers and OR tables with fresh supplies.
  • • Collect and transport biohazard waste and sharps in approved containers.
  • • Disinfect noncritical equipment such as stretchers, monitors, and pumps; report needed repairs.
  • • Stock OR suites and cores with sterile packs, linens, fluids, and disposable supplies.
  • • Deliver and retrieve case carts, sterile instrument trays, and implants while maintaining package integrity.
  • • Transport portable medical equipment, IV poles, and monitors between rooms or departments.
  • • Transport surgical specimens and pathology samples with proper labeling and documentation.
  • • Deliver and return blood products per chain-of-custody procedures.
  • • Carry documents, consents, or messages between pre-op, OR, PACU, and ancillary areas.
  • • Answer call lights, phones, or pages to determine and prioritize support needs.
  • • Respond to OR emergencies, codes, or fire alarms and assist as directed.
  • • Transport deceased patients to the morgue following identification and documentation protocols.
  • • Separate and dispose of regulated, recyclable, and general waste per policy.
  • • Maintain clear corridors and staging areas by organizing and storing equipment.
  • • Verify patient identity and required documents before transport per facility policy.
