Description
Diagnose and treat disorders of the eyelids, orbit, and lacrimal system using surgical and nonsurgical techniques. Perform reconstructive and cosmetic oculofacial procedures to restore function and appearance, provide comprehensive perioperative care, and help prevent periocular disease in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • • Provide oculoplastic consultation to other medical professionals.
  • • Refer patients to subspecialists (e.g., ENT, oncology, neuro-ophthalmology) when needs exceed scope.
  • • Instruct residents and fellows in oculoplastic evaluation and procedures.
  • • Develop and implement protocols and quality procedures for oculoplastic services.
  • • Educate patients on eyelid and orbital health, postoperative care, and prevention.
  • • Conduct clinical research on eyelid, orbital, and lacrimal disorders and outcomes.
  • • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for trauma, thyroid eye disease, and oncology care.
  • • Provide and direct preoperative and postoperative care for oculofacial procedures.
  • • Document and evaluate periocular histories, risk factors, and examination findings.
  • • Prescribe or administer topical, injectable, or systemic therapies for oculofacial conditions and pain.
  • • Order, perform, or interpret diagnostics such as orbital CT/MRI, tear drainage testing, visual fields for ptosis, and clinical photography.
  • • Develop individualized treatment plans balancing functional needs, cosmetic goals, and risks and benefits.
  • • Perform laser procedures such as skin resurfacing, trichiasis ablation, and scar revision.
  • • Perform eyelid surgeries including blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, entropion or ectropion repair, lesion excision with reconstruction, and canthoplasty.
  • • Perform lacrimal surgeries such as probing, stenting, and dacryocystorhinostomy.
  • • Perform orbital surgeries including fracture repair, tumor biopsy or excision, and orbital decompression.
  • • Administer botulinum toxin and soft-tissue fillers for functional or cosmetic indications.
  • • Perform comprehensive periocular and orbital examinations to diagnose and monitor disease.
