Description
Provide specialized care for high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal or fetal conditions. Diagnose, treat, and help prevent complications affecting pregnant patients and fetuses using advanced imaging and procedures. Collaborate with obstetricians and multidisciplinary teams, and perform indicated maternal-fetal interventions and deliveries.
  • • Manage and co-manage high-risk pregnancies from preconception through postpartum.
  • • Perform and interpret targeted obstetric ultrasound, Doppler studies, and fetal surveillance (NST/BPP).
  • • Diagnose and manage maternal comorbidities in pregnancy, such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiac disease.
  • • Evaluate and treat fetal disorders; coordinate care with neonatology, genetics, and pediatric subspecialists.
  • • Perform procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, cerclage, and intrauterine interventions when indicated.
  • • Develop individualized delivery plans and perform cesarean sections or operative deliveries when necessary.
  • • Prescribe and adjust medications and therapies safe for pregnancy and lactation.
  • • Analyze labs, imaging, and medical records to refine diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • • Counsel patients and families on risks, test results, prognosis, and management options.
  • • Provide preconception and interconception counseling on risk reduction and disease prevention.
  • • Collaborate and consult with community obstetricians and other physicians; accept referrals and provide co-management plans.
  • • Direct and coordinate perinatal care teams, including nurses, sonographers, residents, and fellows.
  • • Implement and oversee protocols for antenatal testing, preeclampsia prevention, and preterm birth reduction.
  • • Document and maintain comprehensive maternal-fetal records and contribute to required reports and registries.
  • • Participate in research, quality improvement, and education to advance maternal-fetal outcomes.
