Description
Diagnose, stage, and treat cancers of the female reproductive system. Perform complex gynecologic oncologic surgery and manage systemic therapies; coordinate radiation and multidisciplinary care. Provide risk assessment, prevention, survivorship, and palliative care; conduct research and quality initiatives.
  • • Evaluate and manage patients with suspected or confirmed cancers of the ovary, uterus, cervix, vulva, and vagina.
  • • Interpret imaging, pathology, molecular profiles, and tumor markers to diagnose and stage disease.
  • • Explain diagnoses, prognoses, procedures, and treatment options; obtain informed consent.
  • • Perform oncologic surgeries, including staging and cytoreductive operations, via open, laparoscopic, or robotic approaches.
  • • Conduct radical procedures such as radical hysterectomy, trachelectomy, lymphadenectomy, and pelvic exenteration when indicated.
  • • Prescribe and manage systemic therapies, including chemotherapy, targeted agents, immunotherapy, and hormonal therapy.
  • • Coordinate and integrate radiation therapy with surgical and systemic treatments.
  • • Monitor treatment response and toxicities; modify care plans and institute supportive measures.
  • • Provide perioperative and inpatient care, manage complications, and implement enhanced recovery pathways.
  • • Deliver survivorship planning, symptom management, and palliative or end-of-life care as appropriate.
  • • Counsel on risk reduction, genetic testing, and prophylactic interventions for hereditary cancer syndromes.
  • • Promote prevention and early detection through HPV vaccination, screening, and management of dysplasia.
  • • Coordinate multidisciplinary care and referrals to radiation oncology, medical oncology, genetics, palliative care, fertility preservation, and supportive services.
  • • Document clinical findings, staging, treatments, and outcomes; maintain accurate records and report to tumor registries and quality programs.
  • • Lead and participate in tumor boards, provide consultative services, teach trainees, and engage in clinical trials and quality improvement.
