  • • Select materials and qualify components for radiation, temperature, and pressure environments.
  • • Define instrumentation and control requirements and interfaces for nuclear systems.
  • • Conduct design-basis and beyond-design-basis accident analyses and propose mitigating features.
  • • Perform ALARA evaluations and shielding designs to meet dose limits.
  • • Evaluate operational events and test data to inform design improvements and preventive measures.
  • • Plan and execute design verification and validation, peer reviews, and independent design checks.
  • • Prepare safety analyses and licensing submittals and support regulator and stakeholder reviews.
  • • Develop fuel cycle models and core reload methodologies to optimize performance and minimize waste.
  • • Define test plans and commissioning procedures and support factory and site acceptance testing.
  • • Review vendor designs and coordinate with suppliers, fabricators, and constructors.
  • • Develop operating and maintenance instructions tied to design intent, limits, and surveillance.
  • • Track applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements and ensure design compliance.
  • • Manage design changes, nonconformances, and corrective actions through formal processes.
  • • Provide engineering support during construction and outages to resolve design issues.
  • • Prepare concise technical reports, calculation summaries, and design justifications.
  • • Contribute to project planning, cost and schedule estimates, and risk assessments.
  • • Develop conceptual and detailed designs for reactor cores, fuel assemblies, shielding, and nuclear systems.
  • • Perform neutronics, thermal-hydraulic, structural, and radiation transport analyses to validate designs.
