Description
Perform routine clinical laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood bank to support disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Operate analyzers, ensure quality control, process specimens, and report results under the supervision of a medical technologist or laboratory supervisor.
- • Perform chemical analyses of blood, urine, and other specimens with microscopes and automated analyzers; enter results in the LIS.
- • Verify test accuracy by reviewing QC and instrument flags; troubleshoot per protocol.
- • Validate and record test data; issue reports with values and required comments or graphs.
- • Participate in quality assurance and proficiency testing to meet CLIA/CAP standards.
- • Perform blood bank testing for transfusion (ABO/Rh, antibody screen, crossmatch) and complete CBCs.
- • Process microbiology specimens; streak, incubate, and set up ID and susceptibility tests.
- • Examine stained smears and urine sediments to identify abnormalities; refer unusual findings.
- • Collect and label patient specimens using aseptic technique and positive patient ID.
- • Report critical and abnormal results promptly to providers and the supervising technologist or pathologist.
- • Assist in training or mentoring new staff, students, and lab assistants.
- • Prepare and verify reagents, standards, and controls per SOPs.
- • Perform daily QC, calibrations, and reagent/instrument performance checks; document actions.
- • Set up, maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment; perform decontamination and sterility checks.
