Description
Operate mechanized log processor to delimb, buck, measure, and sort timber at the stump or landing; use onboard computers to cut to specification; deck logs and maintain a safe, efficient work area; perform routine inspection and maintenance.
  • • Complete shift reports, production records, and equipment checklists.
  • • Inspect machine, processing head, hydraulics, and safety systems before use; perform fueling, lubrication, and minor repairs.
  • • Operate tracked or wheeled processor/harvester to delimb, top, and buck stems to specified lengths using measuring systems.
  • • Set up, calibrate, and adjust bucking programs, species tables, and length/diameter targets in the cab computer.
  • • Sort and deck logs by species, grade, and length; maintain orderly, stable log piles.
  • • Monitor cut accuracy, trim, and fiber quality; grade logs to company or industry standards.
  • • Control boom, feed rollers, knives, and saw to position stems, remove limbs, and feed the cut safely.
  • • Keep the landing or trail clear of slash and hazards; coordinate movements with feller-bunchers, skidders, and loaders via radio.
  • • Calculate output in board feet, tons, or cords using onboard data or conversion tables.
