Description
Operate logging tractors and stand-alone machines equipped with attachments such as bulldozer blades, frontal shears, grapples, logging arches, cable winches, hoisting racks, or crane booms to fell and process trees; skid, load, unload, or stack logs; pull stumps; clear brush; and chip wood.
- • Calculate board feet, cordage, or other wood units using conversion tables.
- • Inspect equipment for safety before use and perform basic maintenance.
- • Operate straight or articulated tractors with attachments to skid, load, unload, or stack logs, pull stumps, or clear brush.
- • Use crawler or wheeled tractors to move logs from felling sites to landing areas.
- • Build or repair logging and skid roads using tractors and attachments.
- • Grade logs by knot size, straightness, and company or industry standards.
- • Control hydraulic tractors with tree clamps and booms to lift, swing, and bunch sheared trees.
- • Operate harvesters to top, cut, limb, and buck logs to specified lengths.
- • Complete required job or shift reports.
