Description
Operate mobile or stand-alone delimber equipment to remove limbs and tops from felled trees, buck stems to specified lengths, and sort and deck logs at landings. Inspect and maintain machines and attachments, coordinate with skidders and loaders, and ensure safe, efficient wood flow and site cleanup.
- • Inspect delimber, knives, feed rollers, hydraulics, and safety systems before use; perform basic maintenance and lubrication.
- • Operate mobile or stand-alone delimbers to remove limbs and tops from felled trees at the landing or in the woods.
- • Feed stems through the delimber head, adjusting pressure, feed speed, and knife settings to meet quality and production targets.
- • Buck and trim stems to specified lengths using onboard measuring systems or saws; verify lengths and quality.
- • Sort and deck processed logs by species, grade, and length; manage slash piles for chipping or disposal.
- • Coordinate with skidders, forwarders, and loaders to maintain safe, efficient traffic flow and landing layout.
- • Clear jams and obstructions safely; follow lockout/tagout procedures when servicing the machine.
- • Complete daily production and equipment reports; record counts, lengths, cordage, or board feet using conversion tables.
- • Monitor machine condition and worksite hazards; repair or report issues and maintain a clean, safe work area.
