Support GIS projects by building, updating, and using geospatial databases and maps. Perform data entry and editing, quality control, and routine spatial analysis; produce cartographic products and reports; assist with basic automation and web mapping; and provide user support for GIS data and applications.
- • Produce maps, data layers, tables, and reports using GIS software.
- • Edit, update, and maintain GIS databases and metadata.
- • Collect, compile, and integrate spatial data from GPS, remote sensing, and surveys.
- • Enter and digitize features from maps, imagery, and tabular sources.
- • Perform QA/QC to verify data accuracy, completeness, and currency.
- • Run routine spatial analyses, queries, and geoprocessing tools.
- • Design clear cartographic layouts, symbology, and labels for print and web.
- • Support users with GIS software, data access, and troubleshooting.
- • Convert data between formats, projections, and coordinate systems.
- • Prepare and update web maps or map services under guidance.
- • Document workflows, datasets, and project files.
- • Assist with building and organizing spatial and non-spatial databases.
- • Interpret aerial and orthoimagery to extract and validate features.
- • Create and export 3D views or simple scenes when required.
- • Configure and support mobile and field data collection apps and GPS units.
- • Meet with stakeholders to confirm requirements and deliverables.
- • Develop basic scripts or models to automate repetitive tasks.
- • Test and validate GIS tools, models, or map applications before release.
- • Recommend data or software updates to improve usability and access.
- • Prepare training materials or deliver basic GIS user training.
- • Ensure cartographic and data standards, naming conventions, and metadata are followed.
- • Backup, archive, and version control GIS data and project assets.
- • Create map books, plots, and large-format prints.
- • Assist in researching and evaluating new GIS tools and extensions.
