Description
Provide independent expertise to landowners, companies, and agencies on sustainable forest management, valuation, compliance, and operations. Conduct inventories and appraisals, develop management and conservation plans, advise on procurement, harvesting, regeneration, and certification, and support permitting and stakeholder engagement.
  • • Audit forestry activities and contractor performance for regulatory and contract compliance.
  • • Develop short- and long-term management plans and silvicultural prescriptions.
  • • Advise and mentor client staff; oversee vendor QA/QC.
  • • Recommend site preparation, regeneration methods, and stock selection.
  • • Plan thinning, planting density, and layout; monitor outcomes.
  • • Support contract negotiations; draft scopes, bids, and terms.
  • • Prepare wildfire risk assessments, prevention plans, and response guidelines.
  • • Recommend low-impact harvesting systems and best management practices.
  • • Conduct growth-and-yield and site/species suitability analyses.
  • • Audit reforestation and reclamation against compliance and success criteria.
  • • Design habitat, soil, and water conservation measures; support implementation.
  • • Lead inventories, cruises, and surveys; produce technical reports.
  • • Inspect forestlands, nurseries, and operations for health and safety.
  • • Create GIS and remote-sensing maps and resource valuations.
  • • Deliver stakeholder outreach, training, and public education.
  • • Advise on timber acquisitions and due diligence.
  • • Prepare RFPs, evaluate bids, and recommend logging contractors; advise on road layout.
  • • Design timber sale plans, marking, and sale administration.
  • • Assess wildlife impacts and recommend mitigation measures.
  • • Advise on planning, permitting, and compliance for recreation facilities, roads, and crossings.
  • • Engage landowners to secure access and data for inventories and appraisals.
  • • Provide expert recommendations to landowners, industry, and agencies.
  • • Diagnose pest, disease, and site issues; recommend species and treatments.
  • • Evaluate wood utilization, biomass, and residue management options.
  • • Standardize field measurement protocols and QA/QC procedures.
  • • Support certification (FSC, SFI) and carbon or ecosystem service projects.
