Description
Directly supervise and coordinate electricians and electrical technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Ensure safety, quality, and code compliance (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E) while managing schedules, resources, and stakeholder communication.
  • • Set schedules, sequences, and crew assignments for electrical work based on priority, system impact, and skill sets.
  • • Monitor electricians’ workloads and performance; conduct field audits and reviews.
  • • Inspect electrical systems, controls, and facilities to determine required installations, services, or repairs.
  • • Prepare and manage electrical maintenance and project budgets; coordinate purchasing and track expenditures.
  • • Coach and counsel team members; address skill gaps and support career development.
  • • Requisition electrical materials and supplies, including wire, conduit, breakers, switchgear, and PPE.
  • • Estimate costs for electrical jobs, including materials, labor, equipment, and contractors.
  • • Interpret one-lines, schematics, and drawings; lay out reference points and work plans for crews.
  • • Conduct or arrange training on safety (LOTO, arc flash) and technical topics (codes, test equipment, PLCs, VFDs).
  • • Investigate electrical incidents, near-misses, and equipment failures; document findings and corrective actions.
  • • Coordinate with engineering, operations, facilities, utilities, and customers to plan outages and resolve issues.
  • • Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures.
  • • Perform advanced troubleshooting or repairs as needed using meters, megohm testers, IR cameras, or other test tools.
  • • Maintain CMMS records for work orders, time, inventory, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • • Develop, implement, and audit electrical maintenance policies and procedures, including PM and PdM programs.
  • • Inspect, test, and verify completed electrical work to ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and quality standards.
  • • Meet with vendors and suppliers to evaluate electrical products, tooling, and service options.
  • • Implement and optimize electronic maintenance systems or digital tools for the electrical team.
  • • Design or approve equipment, panel, and control configurations to meet operational and code requirements.
  • • Monitor tool, test equipment, and spare part inventories; ensure calibration and proper shop conditions.
  • • Inspect work areas and equipment; enforce electrical safety rules and LOTO; provide ongoing safety training.
  • • Review, evaluate, and manage electrical contractor bids; oversee scope, permits, and commissioning.
