Description
Sort, grade, clean, and pack fresh vegetables by hand or on packing lines. Inspect produce for quality and size; trim as needed; weigh, label, and palletize finished cases. Maintain cold chain, follow food-safety and sanitation standards, keep records, and use knives, conveyors, scales, labelers, and pallet jacks; may assist with loading and basic equipment upkeep.
- • Follow GMPs, HACCP, and food-safety procedures.
- • Receive harvested vegetables and stage them for packing.
- • Inspect, sort, and grade vegetables for size, ripeness, and defects.
- • Wash or dry brush produce according to specifications.
- • Trim stems, leaves, or damaged portions using knives or clippers.
- • Weigh and count product to meet pack standards.
- • Pack vegetables into bags, clamshells, trays, or cartons.
- • Apply labels, lot codes, and date codes to packages and cases.
- • Assemble boxes and prepare packaging materials.
- • Build and wrap pallets to shipping specifications.
- • Load packed cases and pallets onto trucks or into coolers.
- • Operate and monitor conveyors, packing lines, scales, and sealers.
- • Move materials with hand trucks or pallet jacks; operate forklifts if certified.
- • Record pack-outs, weights, waste, and lot traceability information.
- • Sanitize work surfaces, tools, and equipment; remove trash and debris.
- • Check temperatures and maintain cold-chain requirements.
- • Report quality issues, equipment problems, and supply needs to supervisors.
- • Rotate stock and organize coolers and storage areas.
- • Maintain inventory of packaging supplies and request reorders.
- • Perform basic cleaning and preventive maintenance on packing equipment.
