Description
Conduct monitoring, analysis, and investigations to identify, quantify, and mitigate air pollutants and atmospheric hazards affecting environmental and public health. Using knowledge of atmospheric science, chemistry, and regulations, collect, model, interpret, and report emissions and ambient measurements, and recommend control, compliance, and risk-reduction actions.
- • Conduct air quality audits, stack tests, site inspections, or investigations of air violations.
- • Evaluate air compliance issues found during inspections and recommend enforcement or corrective actions.
- • Review and implement air quality standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- • Advise on air permitting, control strategies, and best practices for emissions management.
- • Analyze ambient and emissions data for quality, validity, trends, and source attribution.
- • Determine air monitoring and sampling plans, methods, and instrumentation for projects and surveys.
- • Prepare charts, AQI summaries, and visualizations of air data and findings.
- • Draft technical portions of permits, notices of violation, consent orders, or supporting affidavits.
- • Investigate and document incidents involving releases, odors, smoke, or dust affecting air quality.
- • Monitor air impacts of development or industrial activities and mitigation effectiveness.
- • Develop programs to reduce emissions and exposure while supporting productive land or facility use.
- • Research emission sources and atmospheric processes to inform abatement and control methods.
- • Track pollution episodes and dispersion, and recommend prevention or response measures.
- • Design or direct air studies, monitoring networks, or modeling to support project decisions.
- • Develop methods to minimize process air emissions in line with legislation and environmental context.
- • Build and apply statistical or dispersion models for air impact assessment.
- • Collect, manage, and report air datasets, including ambient monitoring, meteorology, and emissions inventories.
- • Communicate air quality findings and health implications to stakeholders through briefings and reports.
- • Provide technical guidance and oversight to agencies, programs, facilities, or the public on air issues.
- • Process and review air permits, emission inventories, and related compliance documents.
- • Supervise or train air monitoring technicians, analysts, or students.
- • Conduct applied research on air pollution measurement, forecasting, or control technologies.
