Description
Assist the dredge operator with positioning, pumping, and excavation, coordinate deck crew and equipment, and help maintain safe, efficient dredging in navigable waterways.
- • Assist in positioning the dredge and controlling suction booms, cutterheads, and hydraulic pumps.
- • Start, stop, and monitor engines and auxiliaries as directed.
- • Operate or direct power winches to haul in or let out cables and set spuds or anchors.
- • Monitor depth gauges and soundings; verify excavation depths with poles or sensors.
- • Coordinate and assist crew placing shore anchors, rigging additional pipeline to shore, and managing pontoons.
- • Flush or pump water to clear pipelines and maintain flow, reporting issues promptly.
