Description
Teach Family and Consumer Sciences to secondary students, delivering hands-on instruction in nutrition, culinary arts, child development, consumer education, textiles, interior design, and personal finance; manage safe, standards-aligned labs and projects that build life and career readiness.
- • Prepare materials and labs for culinary, textile, child development, and consumer education activities.
- • Maintain accurate and complete student records per laws, CTE, and district policies.

- • Meet with families to discuss progress and resource needs, including nutrition, budgeting, and community supports.
- • Organize class projects, catering events, school-based enterprises, simulations, field trips, and guest speakers from industry.
- • Attend professional development, CTE consortium meetings, and teacher workshops to maintain competence.
- • Sponsor and advise FCCLA or related student organizations and competitions.
- • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and revise FCS curricula and cross-curricular initiatives.
- • Facilitate industry-recognized credentialing and connect students with job placement services and apprenticeships.
- • Coordinate lesson pacing and assessment calendars with department and school teams.
- • Serve on school committees and participate in staff meetings and duties as assigned.
- • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment; oversee equipment maintenance and safety inspections.
- • Provide accommodations and adaptive equipment to ensure all students can access kitchens, labs, and classroom activities.
