Teach secondary students business education courses—such as accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, personal finance, and business technology—using real-world applications to build career and college readiness.
  • • Prepare materials, digital resources, and classroom/lab spaces for business and technology activities.
  • • Maintain accurate and complete student records per law, district policy, and CTE requirements.
  • • Instruct students individually and in groups through lectures, discussions, case studies, and simulations.
  • • Establish and enforce classroom procedures and professional behavior norms.
  • • Observe and evaluate students’ academic performance, employability skills, and teamwork.
  • • Instruct and monitor safe and ethical use of computers, financial tools, and business equipment.
  • • Plan balanced lessons combining direct instruction, demonstrations, projects, and practice with business scenarios.
  • • Design, administer, and grade assessments, projects, and presentations.
  • • Enforce school and program policies, including academic integrity.
  • • Assign and grade classwork, homework, and portfolio artifacts.
  • • Teach knowledge and skills for business careers using sequenced curricula with labs, software, and field studies.
  • • Set and communicate clear objectives, success criteria, and rubrics.
  • • Integrate spreadsheets, databases, presentation tools, and other technology to enhance learning.
  • • Coordinate and supervise work-based learning, internships, and school-based enterprises.
  • • Build students’ readiness for advanced courses and postsecondary business pathways.
  • • Confer with parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress and behavior.
  • • Develop course syllabi and unit plans aligned to state business education standards.
  • • Advise students on academic planning, career goals, and industry-recognized certifications.
  • • Select, inventory, and manage classroom technology, software licenses, and supplies.
  • • Stay current with business trends, financial literacy standards, and instructional best practices.
  • • Collaborate with special education and support staff to address individual learning needs.
  • • Provide targeted support and remediation for students needing extra help.
  • • Prepare required program and student performance reports.
  • • Organize guest speakers, industry visits, competitions, and entrepreneurial projects.
  • • Participate in professional learning, conferences, and CTE teacher workshops.
  • • Sponsor or advise business-related clubs such as DECA or FBLA.
  • • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and revise business curricula and pathways.
  • • Facilitate career exploration and connect students with job shadowing and placement services.
  • • Coordinate lesson schedules with staff to support cross-curricular projects.
  • • Attend staff meetings and serve on school or CTE committees.
  • • Support school operations through assigned supervisory duties.
  • • Ensure accessibility and provide assistive technology for students with disabilities.
  • • Model and teach ethics, financial responsibility, and digital citizenship.
