Teach middle school Career and Technology Education (CTE) pathway courses through hands-on, standards-aligned instruction that builds technical, academic, and employability skills; manage safe labs, integrate industry technology, support credential readiness, and guide career exploration in collaboration with families, colleagues, and community partners.
- • Establish and enforce classroom and lab safety rules and procedures.
- • Instruct and monitor students in the safe use and care of tools, equipment, and materials.
- • Teach individuals and groups using demonstrations, simulations, discussions, and hands-on labs.
- • Maintain accurate student, credential, and competency records per laws and district policies.
- • Prepare labs, materials, and equipment for hands-on activities.
- • Set clear, standards- and pathway-aligned objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- • Plan balanced instruction with demonstrations, project work, and inquiry-based learning.
- • Differentiate instruction and materials to meet varied student needs and interests.
- • Design, administer, and grade performance tasks, projects, and assessments.
- • Enforce school, district, and program policies and rules.
- • Assign and assess classwork, homework, and skill practice.
- • Observe and evaluate students’ technical skills, behavior, and social development.
- • Integrate technology, industry software, and audio-visual tools to enhance instruction.
- • Develop course outlines and pacing aligned to state CTE standards and program requirements.
- • Prepare students for future coursework and careers by fostering perseverance and curiosity.
- • Advise and support students with academic, career exploration, and program-related concerns.
- • Collaborate with parents, counselors, and administrators to address academic and behavioral needs.
- • Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress, goals, and resource needs.
- • Plan and document lessons; provide written plans upon request of supervisors.
- • Provide remediation, interventions, and enrichment for students needing additional support or challenge.
- • Provide students with disabilities accommodations, assistive technology, and accessible lab support.
- • Meet with professionals to review individual students’ needs and progress.
- • Prepare required reports on student achievement, safety, and program activities.
- • Plan and supervise projects, field trips, workplace visits, and guest speaker sessions.
- • Attend professional learning, industry trainings, and conferences to maintain competence.
- • Coordinate with colleagues to plan integrated, cross-curricular, or pathway-aligned lessons.
- • Collaborate with administrators and advisory committees to develop and refine CTE curricula.
- • Attend staff meetings and serve on school or program committees.
- • Perform duties such as lab supervision, hallway and cafeteria monitoring, and arrival/dismissal support.
- • Sponsor Career and Technical Student Organizations (e.g., SkillsUSA, TSA, DECA) and related events.
- • Select, inventory, budget for, and maintain tools, equipment, materials, and supplies in compliance with safety standards.
