Teach middle school agriculture and agriscience technology, integrating plant and animal science, environmental systems, agricultural mechanics, and agribusiness through safe, hands-on labs, projects, and career exploration aligned to CTE standards, including leadership development through FFA and SAEs.
- • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and safety in labs, shop, greenhouse, and field settings.
- • Instruct and monitor students in the safe use and care of agricultural tools, lab equipment, PPE, greenhouse systems, and animal handling.
- • Teach students individually and in groups using demonstrations, labs, field investigations, and problem-based learning.
- • Maintain accurate and complete student records, including grades, certifications, SAEs, and FFA participation.
- • Prepare materials, facilities, and equipment for agriscience labs and class activities.
- • Set and communicate clear objectives for units in plant, animal, soil, environmental science, ag mechanics, and agribusiness.
- • Plan and conduct a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time with hands-on experiences.
- • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse learning needs and interests.
- • Prepare, administer, and grade tests, practicals, lab reports, and projects.
- • Enforce school, program, safety, and animal welfare policies.
- • Assign and grade classwork, lab notebooks, and homework.
- • Observe and evaluate students' knowledge, skills, safety practices, and teamwork.
- • Use computers, sensors, microscopes, GPS, and audio-visual tools to enhance instruction.

- • Prepare students for future study and careers by promoting exploration of agriculture pathways and perseverance.
- • Advise and support students with academic challenges and special interests in agriculture, including SAEs.
- • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve concerns.
- • Meet with families to discuss progress, safety expectations, and resource needs for program participation.
- • Prepare for classes and maintain lesson plans, lab safety plans, and equipment checklists.
- • Provide remediation or extension for students requiring extra help or enrichment.
- • Ensure accessibility and provide assistive devices and supports for students with disabilities.
- • Collaborate with support staff to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
- • Prepare required reports on student achievement, safety, inventory, and program activities.
- • Plan and supervise projects, field trips to farms and agri-businesses, guest speakers, and service-learning.
- • Participate in professional meetings, conferences, and training to maintain and improve competence.
- • Work with colleagues and administrators to develop, evaluate, and revise agriscience programs.
- • Attend staff meetings and serve on school or program committees.
- • Perform supervisory duties such as hall and cafeteria monitoring and bus duty.
- • Sponsor or co-advise FFA or agriscience clubs, events, competitions, and community outreach.
- • Select, store, order, issue, inventory, and maintain classroom, shop, greenhouse, garden, and animal facility supplies.
- • Coordinate and monitor student SAE projects, records, and safety.
- • Implement biosecurity, sanitation, and chemical safety protocols consistent with age-appropriate activities.
- • Integrate sustainability, conservation, and food safety practices into instruction.
- • Seek and coordinate resources, grants, donations, and industry partnerships that support the program.
