Description
Operate studio and field television cameras to capture live and recorded content, ensuring proper framing, focus, exposure, and movement while following director cues and broadcast standards.
- • Operate studio, pedestal, handheld, jib, and field cameras for live and recorded television.
- • Compose and frame shots and set focus, exposure, and white balance to achieve the desired look.
- • Execute pans, tilts, zooms, and dolly moves per director cues via intercom.
- • Mount and balance cameras on tripods, pedestals, sliders, dollies, jibs, or steadicams.
- • Adjust camera controls and coordinate with the video shader/CCU to maintain consistent image quality.
- • Select and change lenses, filters, ND, and frame rates per production requirements.
- • Collaborate with directors, producers, audio, lighting, and stage crews to plan camera blocking and moves.
- • Scout studios or locations to identify lighting, power, and sightline issues.
- • Set up and cable cameras, tally, intercom, return video, and prompter feeds.
- • Set up and perform live shots for news and remote broadcasts.
- • Operate and shade PTZ and robotic cameras during studio productions.
- • Read rundowns, scripts, and shot lists to determine camera positions and sequences.
- • Configure timecode, genlock, and camera IDs for multi-camera synchronization.
- • Operate ENG/EFP equipment and microwave or bonded-cellular transmission to send footage to the station.
- • Capture clean audio with on-camera microphones or basic field mixers when required.
- • Perform basic non-linear editing and logging of footage when assigned.
- • Test, clean, and perform minor maintenance on cameras, lenses, tripods, and cables.
- • Troubleshoot image issues such as moiré, rolling shutter, and flicker by adjusting shutter, ISO, and lighting.
- • Comply with safety protocols and secure gear in crowds, weather, or live environments.
- • Stay current with broadcast camera technologies and best practices.
