Description
Preside over administrative hearings on government or agency matters, evaluate evidence and testimony, apply laws and regulations, and issue decisions or recommendations on claims, liabilities, penalties, or settlements while ensuring due process.
  • • Prepare clear written findings, opinions, and decisions.
  • • Review case files, applications, records, and exhibits for relevance and accuracy.
  • • Research and analyze applicable laws, regulations, policies, and precedent.
  • • Confer with parties, counsel, and agency staff to obtain relevant information and clarify issues.
  • • Approve or recommend acceptance, denial, or settlement of claims in accordance with law and policy.
  • • Advise parties of appeal rights and procedures.
  • • Manage hearings, administer due process, and maintain decorum and a complete record.
  • • Order or recommend payment, restitution, or other remedies for valid claims.
  • • Conduct evidentiary hearings on eligibility, enforcement, licensing, permitting, or compliance matters.
  • • Rule on motions, objections, and admissibility of evidence.
  • • Determine liability, sanctions, or penalties based on the record and applicable law.
  • • Issue subpoenas, administer oaths, and ensure witness attendance.
  • • Review and improve hearing and appeals procedures for legal compliance and efficiency.
  • • Schedule and notice hearings and prehearing conferences.
